Workshop Kitchen at the Kolkja Old Believers Museum
On the second floor of the Kolkja Old Believers Museum, there is a fully equipped teaching kitchen with a large table that can host up to 15 participants.
The workshops are led by Natalja Rästas, the first onion pie master of the Onion Route and the owner of Peipsimaa Präänikutalu (Peipus Gingerbread Farm).
Onion Pies and Traditional Sugar Candy
During the workshop, participants prepare the dough according to Natalja’s recipe and bake both a large open onion pie and small individual onion pies. At the same time, traditional Old Believers’ boiled sugar candy is made. Tea is served, and everyone can enjoy the results of their own work. All recipes are included to take home.
The workshop lasts 2.5 hours; if you wish to stay longer for tea and enjoying the pies, we recommend allowing up to 3 hours.
Price: €340 per group, up to 15 participants.
The price also includes access to the museum exhibitions.
A guided museum tour can be booked for an additional €30.
Gingerbread Making and Decorating
Natalja makes unique gingerbread that can be filled inside and tastes quite different from ordinary gingerbread cookies. Her decorated gingerbread is also visually stunning. During the workshop, participants make their own gingerbread and learn several professional decorating techniques.
